Will These Seeds Find Good Soil?

The The "You Are Not Alone Club" gathered for a weekend retreat in the fall of 2005.

"The sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell beside the road, and it was trampled under foot and the birds of the air ate it up.  Other seed fell on rocky soil, and as soon as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. Other seed fell among the thorns; and the thorns grew up with it and choked it out.- Luke 8:5-7

Many of you reading this have come here with us through the years and seen how God has allowed you to sow seeds of hope in many of Russia's orphanages, even seeds that have sprung up to eternal life.  You've traveled with us to the Kirov region, to Ekaterinburg, or to Voronezh, and seen how thousands of these young people have responded to the Gospel message of hope.  The message that they have a Heavenly Father who loves them enough to give His only Son up for their sake, in order to adopt them as His very own.

Now, the time has come for many of these 'seeds' that have been sown to leave the protection of the institutions where we've met them and try to survive on their own.  As they emerge from the orphanages, we are seeing that there is just no soil in which these seeds can fall.  At best, they are falling on rocky soil, finding it very hard to put down roots to draw the necessary nourishment required for their very survival.

Statistics tell us that many of them don't survive.  Many are falling among the thorns that grow up and choke them out.  Thorns like crime and prostitution.

We have realized an urgent need to prepare soil in which these precious seeds may fall.  dedicated ministry team of volunteers and staff are cultivating the soil for many such seeds who are currently finding vital nourishment here.

One article tells of four young men who were baptizedin July of '05, and are finding rich soil in which to grow, and are even tilling the soil around them for other seeds which are falling, to find the nourishment they too need.

The kids are praying fervently for God to provide the funds to expand this project to provide more soil to enrich the lives of many of their friends who they know are in desperate need of the nourishment to survive.  read more about our plans for 2009 in a linked article here, and know more about how to join these kids in their fervent prayer for more soil for falling seeds.

"Other seed fell into the good soil, and grew up, and produced a crop a hundred times as great." As Jesus said these things, He would call out, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear." Luke 8:8
